I spent the day checking out social networking sites because MySpace just wasn't cutting it for me anymore. It's good and it has the features all social networking sites need, but it was lacking something for me and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I found Facebook and it all fell into place. I am not sure if I was wrong or if Facebook recently changed, but I am pretty certain it used to be just for college students. That is no longer the case; anyone can join Facebook and it doesn't just rival MySpace, it completely rocks it off the chain! While you still have all the basic social networking features available on MySpace and pretty much all other social networking sites, Facebook offers literally thousands of applications - add-ons or widgets - that you can add to your profile. Many add great features, such as connecting your existing blog to your account and showing it on your profile, while others are simply fun. You can play games like Risk and Monopoly with your friends, or become a Vampire and work your way through the ranks biting and feeding on others. Better yet, become a Slayer and kill all those vampires that keep hounding you! Like MySpace, Facebook can be used for far more than just meeting people and keeping in touch with friends and family. Modify it to serve your needs by making it another promotional tool for your business, blog, or website; design your profile to be an active resume or recruiting tool; you can even devise your own business on Facebook through the clever use of applications, effective use of your personality, and marketing strategies - I've seen several people who have done it! Regardless of your reasons for social networking, Facebook is the best one out there, by far - fully-configurable and more robust than any other site I have come across. |
